What is the lifespan of an electric boiler?
An electric boiler will often last around 10 to 15 years, and sometimes longer if it is installed correctly and properly maintained. Because electric boilers do not burn gas or oil, they have fewer combustion-related parts. There is no burner, flue, fan, pilot light, or gas valve, which can reduce some maintenance requirements.
However, electric boilers still contain parts that can wear out over time. These can include heating elements, pumps, relays, contactors, pressure sensors, expansion vessels, and control boards. Water quality is one of the biggest factors affecting lifespan. Scale, sludge, and corrosion can damage components and reduce efficiency.
To help an electric boiler last longer, the heating system should be clean, treated with the correct inhibitor, kept at the right pressure, and checked regularly. A good installation and a well-maintained heating system are just as important as the boiler itself.
