Do I need new radiators with an electric boiler?
You do not always need new radiators when fitting an electric boiler. In many cases, an electric boiler can be connected to an existing wet radiator system, similar to a gas or oil boiler. However, the existing radiators must be large enough and in good enough condition to heat each room properly.
If the radiators are old, undersized, full of sludge, or already struggling to heat the property, they may need to be replaced or upgraded. Larger or more efficient radiators can help the system heat rooms more effectively and may allow the boiler to run for less time.
Before deciding, a heat loss calculation should be carried out for the property. This checks how much heat each room needs. The existing radiators can then be compared against that requirement. If they are suitable, they can usually stay. If they are too small, replacing selected radiators may improve comfort and efficiency.
