Can electric boilers be used with radiators?
Yes, electric boilers can be used with radiators. An electric boiler heats water and circulates it around a wet central heating system, just like a gas or oil boiler. The heated water travels through pipework to the radiators, and the radiators then release heat into the rooms.
In many cases, an electric boiler can replace an existing boiler on a radiator system, but the system must be checked properly first. The installer should look at the radiator sizes, pipework, pump, controls, system pressure, water quality, and electrical supply.
The boiler output must also match the heating demand of the property. If the boiler is too small, or if the radiators are undersized, the rooms may heat slowly or not reach the required temperature. Electric boilers work best with good insulation, correctly sized radiators, accurate thermostats, and a properly balanced heating system.
