Do air curtains work in winter?
Do air curtains work in winter? Yes, air curtains will work extremely effectively in winter if they are properly selected and installed. Their principal benefit in winter is that they reduce the amount of outside cold air that comes in via an open doorway, while helping to keep the warm air inside in.
This increases the comfort around the entrances and decreases the burden on the main heating system. Heated air curtains, on the other hand, are quite beneficial in wintertime, as they create an air barrier and also bring warm air into the space around the doorway. Industry guidelines identify air curtains as a means to limit air exchange and penetration at entrances and increase comfort adjacent to the opening.
However, they must be sized correctly. If the air stream is too weak, strong external wind or negative building pressure can overpower it.
